'A Day at the Beach with Reeve' On Friday In Asbury Park

The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation was scheduled to host "A Day at the Beach with Reeve" on Friday in Asbury Park.

The event will be on Friday at Asbury Park from 2 to 6 p.m. at the entrance to the First Avenue Beach, according to the NY/NJ Baykeeper.

The event was to celebrate progress in beach accessibility for people with disabilities that have made them rely on a wheelchair and kept them off the beach and out of the water.

The entrances to three Asbury Park beaches were made accessible with special mats that extend onto the beach, providing a more solid, level base that give beach-accessible wheelchairs a head start out onto the sand.

The event was to offer people the free use of wheelchairs that not only can roll onto the sand, but can also be wheeled right down into the water and stay afloat.
