Free WiFi Possibly Coming To Monmouth County Beach

Free WiFi may be coming to the Belmar beach this summer, according to Mayor Matt Doherty.

"Another reason to work at the beach instead of in an office on a sunny day," Doherty wrote on Twitter.

Verizon wants to bring the wireless service to the Belmar beachfront as early as Memorial Day, according to Tapinto Belmar/Lake Como.

Under a proposal presented to the Belmar Council on Jan. 17, the trial project would be the first of its kind in the United States for Verizon, which plans to invest $4 million in the effort, according to the report.
