Save Asbury’s Waterfront is encouraging local residents to go to the Asbury Park Planning Board meeting Monday, Sept. 9th at 7 p.m. The group and community members oppose what they describe as a plan to install a 15-foot, “meandering pathway" that is supposed to be part of a beach club development.
The Planning Board will decide to support or oppose iStar’s application to build a beach club with a 20-foot high wall along Ocean Avenue and a 31-foot high elevator bank., the group said.
The group said there are many environmental, engineering, social and other concerns about iStar’s proposal. iStar's Landscape Architect and planner will present and the public will have opportunity to ask questions, the group said.

"Over 400 people showed up at Council Chambers, and the community won!" the group said, referring to an October hearing on a similar subject.
The iStar development was to involve the construction of a one-story beach club within Asbury Park. The beach club project was to be constructed entirely on private property and maintain all existing public beach access points, according to an iStar statement.
