Man Found Shot Inside Car In Monmouth County: Prosecutor

The county prosecutor's office is investigating the circumstances that led up to a man found shot dead in his car early Monday morning.

FREEHOLD – The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the circumstances that led up to a man found shot dead in his car in Neptune early Monday morning, authorities said.

Police responded to 1401 Route 35 South around 1:42 a.m. for a report of possible shots fired on Monday morning, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced. At the scene, officers found an adult man inside a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was rushed to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 2:41 a.m.

Although rumors circulating on social media said that the shooting took place on the property of a local nightclub, the vehicle was discovered parked on the street of the south concourse, Linskey said.

Members of the Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Bureau and the Neptune Township Police Department are currently investigating this incident.
