Monmouth Jail Killing: Bradley Beach Man Charged
A Monmouth County man has been charged in the death of a fellow inmate at Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold.
FREEHOLD, NJ – A Monmouth County Correctional Institution inmate has been charged in the death of a fellow inmate, officials said Sunday.
Evan Raczkiewicz, 29, of Bradley Beach, has been charged with first-degree aggravated manslaughter in the death of Daniel Ferrara.
If convicted, the Monmouth County man faces up to 30 years imprisonment subject to the No Early Release Act.

Raczkiewicz was being held at the institution on charges of burglary, unlawful possession of a long gun, theft and unlawful possession of a handgun after a 2020 arrest, per the Asbury Park Press.
Ferrara, 49, of Ocean Grove, was found unresponsive in the kitchen area of jail at around 5:20 a.m. on Sunday. While medical staff attempted life-saving efforts, Ferrara was pronounced deceased at 6:03 a.m.

It was not immediately clear what injuries Ferrara sustained leading up to his death.
A joint investigation launched by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and investigators from the Monmouth County Correctional Institution found that Raczkiewicz had struck Ferrara multiple times prior to his death.
The incident remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
