“Those suffering from substance use disorders need to know it’s okay to ask for help,” said Asbury Park Mayor John Moor. “We commend Daytop New Jersey for using a fun activity to create dialog around this disease and raise funding to treat those in need.”
“We wanted to create an event where everyone touched by the disease of addiction can come together to honor or memorialize a loved one and feel renewed after. What better way to do this than to jump in a freezing cold Atlantic?” said Jim Curtin, president and CEO of Daytop New Jersey. “Just like being in recovery - it’s scary, and you don’t know if you can do it, but it’s easier when surrounded by others attempting to do the same thing and cheering you on.”
