Authorities want to know why at least two cats have been found dead in the Asbury Park area this week – and who may be responsible for this "cruel killing."

The two young male, black and white cats, both about a year old, were found dead in a garbage can near the 1200 block of Grand Avenue in Asbury Park on Monday, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

Both cats suffered significant trauma, and evidence collected at the scene suggests that this may not be an isolated incident, according to the MCPO.
