Operation Underway In Monmouth County Was Training: Officials

MONMOUTH COUNTY – What looked like a search-and-recovery operation in Deal Lake along Bridlemere Avenue in Interlaken, just north of Asbury Park, on Thursday was actually training, according to authorities.

A heavy law enforcement presence was observed for most of Wednesday along the lakefront, according to The Asbury Park Press. Investigators also walked along the railroad tracks of the North Jersey Coast Line, according to the report.

Patti Ludwig, 65, of Stonington, Ct. told The Press she saw about eight people in black polo shirts and khaki pants, carrying sidearms and even wading into the lake. A white truck that included the words “Monmouth County” emblazoned on it, as well as a law enforcement vehicle with Bergen County markings, were also there, the report said.
