The two teen boys first gave false names but they ultimately were identified and determined to be a boy from Jackson, 15, and a boy from Holmdel, 13. They were taken into custody and the vehicle was impounded.

Police say both boys had been reported missing out of a group home in another county. They were both charged with juvenile complaints of hindering apprehension and receiving stolen property.

Jackson Twp. home invasion Tuesday morning, with owner inside the house

In an unrelated incident, a 2020 Audi Q8 valued at $80,000 was stolen from a Jackson Twp. driveway at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday. That morning, residents on the street, Bridgewater Court off Brewers Bridge Road, said they saw a green 2022 BMW M4 driving slowly through the neighborhood before going to the victim’s house.

That green BMW had been reported stolen out of Closter, in Bergen County.

Jackson Police say the suspects entered the victim’s open garage and then entered the home itself through an unlocked interior door. While the homeowner was upstairs, the suspects went through several drawers in the kitchen and stole the homeowner’s purse, which contained a wallet, credit cards, cash and other personal items along with the key fob for the Audi.

They then stole the Audi and both vehicles were last seen driving toward Brewers Bridge Road. The BMW was later recovered in Newark and the location of the Audi is unknown.
