Bruce Springsteen appeared at the "Blinded by the Light" movie premiere in Asbury Park on Wednesday. And he did what people always want him to do when he's in the city that's closely associated with his name and songs.
He performed. A lot.

The movie isn't so much about the rocker as it is a coming-of-age story about a teen whose life was changed by Springsteen's songs, including "Blinded by the Light." The movie is set in 1987, just three years after the rocker's top-selling, generational landmark album "Born in the U.S.A. hit the stores.
But Springsteen hasn't been shy about having his name associated with it, so he made an appearance at the Paramount Theatre to kick off the film, which has a 92-percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie is named after one of Springsteen's most famous songs, which appeared on his first album, "Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J." It wasn't a hit for him, however: Manfred Mann turned it into a number-1 song in mid-1970s.
