Coastal storm causes major beach damage in 10 shore towns (ocnjdaily.com) — Atlantic City’s beaches and protective dunes suffered some of the worst damage from last month’s powerful nor’easter, with rough surf carving 15-foot sand cliffs and exposing the city’s vulnerability. State engineers documented major erosion in 10 Jersey Shore towns, while local mayors and Rep. Jeff Van Drew are now pushing for federal help to repair dunes, protect property, and strengthen coastal defenses.
   

2. Atlantic City to host free wellness event for World Homeless Day (shorelocalnews.com) — Atlantic City will host a free World Homeless Day wellness event this Saturday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at City Center Park. Residents can access health screenings, housing and benefits information, community resources, and food, with city officials urging anyone facing homelessness or instability to attend and connect with on-site providers.
   

3. Atlantic City Marathon returns Oct. 17-18 with sold-out race weekend (shorelocalnews.com) — Atlantic City will host a completely sold-out marathon weekend October 17–18, bringing thousands of runners and spectators to a fast, scenic course centered on the Boardwalk. Residents should expect course changes due to Ventnor construction, busy conditions around Bally’s for the expo, and a community sneaker drive benefiting Atlantic County. Proceeds support programs at the Katz JCC of Atlantic County.
   

4. Atlantic City's Historic Steel Pier Listed For $85 Million Sale (iheart.com) — Atlantic City’s 128-year-old Steel Pier is on the market for $85 million, potentially reshaping a key stretch of the Boardwalk across from Hard Rock. The sale includes rides, food stands, a Ferris wheel, and rare rights to extend the pier far into the ocean. Residents could see anything from continued amusements to a large condo-hotel complex, depending on the buyer’s plans.
   

5. NJ Bill Would End Criminal Charges for Underage Gambling (playusa.com) — Lawmakers are considering a bill that would replace criminal charges with civil fines for underage gambling at Atlantic City casinos, simulcast facilities, and sportsbooks. The proposal would create escalating fines up to $2,000, direct revenue to problem-gambling treatment, and also penalize casino staff or adults who knowingly allow minors to gamble. With the legislative session ending in December, the measure faces a tight timeline.
