2 Stafford Police Officers Recognized For Excellence In 2022
Det. Erik Smithman and Ptl. Anthony Vincent received two of the highest honors a Stafford police officer can receive.

STAFFORD, NJ — Two Stafford police officers were recognized for their excellence, receiving the highest accolades someone in the department can get for the work they did in 2022.
Det. Erik Smithman and Ptl. Anthony Vincent were honored with these awards at the department's annual awards ceremony.
Smithman received the 2022 Police Officer of the Year award, voted by his peers. The criteria for the award, Stafford police said, is "one who demonstrates a quality work ethic; exhibits a high degree of professionalism, motivation, dedication and integrity, and enhances the police image as well as distinguishes themselves within the law enforcement community."

Vincent was voted as the 2022 recipient of the Rick Drappi Award. Named after Stafford Township Police Officer Henry "Rick" Drappi, who died in an accident in 1978, the honor is awarded to an officer who emulates him. Police said the criteria is a "Police officer who has shown unselfish dedication, pride, and concern for others as Officer Drappi did."
"Both of these officers truly represent the Stafford Township Police Department proudly and live by our motto 'Supra Ultra Que', above & beyond," police said. "Congratulations, Officers!"
