5 Injured In School Bus Crash In Barnegat: Reports

BARNEGAT, NJ — Five people were injured when a school bus overturned on the Garden State Parkway in Barnegat Tuesday afternoon, according to multiple sources.

The bus crashed in the southbound lands near mile marker 69.1, according to NBC Philadelphia.

Patch has learned that the bus was driving three students from the Southern Regional School District who attend the Rugby School at Woodfield in Neptune City, a special education school.

The driver, an aide and two students were injured.

NBC initially reported that the bus was from Brick, but Patch has confirmed that it is not.

"It is not a Brick Township Schools bus," Superintendent Thomas Farrell said by phone Tuesday evening.

Five people suffered minor injuries in the crash, the Ocean County Sheriff's Office told NBC Philadelphia.

A damaged car was seen being towed from the site of the crash, according to 6abc Philadelphia.

There is a two-mile delay as of 4:07 p.m. from Exit 69 to the Barnegat Toll Plaza, according to 511NJ, the Department of Transportation's website.

It is not clear what caused the crash.
