MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Stafford Township police are investigating a late-night crash on Route 9 that left a Waretown woman seriously injured and closed the roadway for about two hours.
Officers from the Stafford Township Police Department responded at about 10:21 p.m. April 12 to a reported motor vehicle crash in the area of Route 9 and Manor Drive. When officers arrived, they found a single vehicle that had struck a utility pole, according to the preliminary investigation.
Police reported the vehicle was traveling north on Route 9 when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control and collided with the pole. The driver was identified as Laura Krohn, 41, of Waretown.
According to police, Krohn was unconscious and unresponsive after the crash. Officers at the scene removed her from the vehicle and provided emergency assistance before EMS and paramedics arrived. Because of the potential seriousness of her injuries, she was airlifted to Jersey Shore Trauma Center for advanced care, according to the report.
The crash also damaged the utility pole. Atlantic City Electric responded to assess the damage and make repairs, police reported.
Route 9 was fully closed for about two hours while emergency personnel investigated the crash and cleared the scene, according to police. No additional information was released.
