MANAHAWKIN, NJ — A Shamong woman was charged with drug offenses after a motor vehicle stop in Manahawkin early Thursday, May 14, according to the Stafford Township Police Department.
Police said Patrolman Ryan Cahill stopped 56-year-old Kimberly Deridder of Shamong at about 12:25 a.m. in the area of Route 9 and Julian Court. During the stop, Cahill developed reasonable suspicion that Deridder was possessing a controlled dangerous substance inside the vehicle and or on her person, according to the department.
Police reported that Okinsky and his narcotic K-9 partner, Buck, were then called to the scene to conduct an exterior sniff of the vehicle. According to the department, K-9 Buck gave a positive indication for the presence of narcotics odor coming from within the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 23 grams of methamphetamine, according to police. Police also reported that drug paraphernalia was found inside the vehicle.
Deridder was charged with manufacturing, distributing or dispensing methamphetamine in a quantity of one-half ounce or more but less than five ounces, a second-degree crime; possession of methamphetamine, a third-degree crime; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a disorderly persons offense, according to the department.
After processing at Stafford Township Police Department, Deridder was transported to the Ocean County Jail on a complaint warrant pending a detention hearing, police said.
