MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Stafford Township residents and community members are invited to join a neighborhood cleanup at Hidden Pines Park, also known as Forecastle Basin, on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026.
The volunteer event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and is being organized by the Stafford Township Green Team.
According to the event announcement, the cleanup is aimed at bringing neighbors together while helping preserve the township's public spaces. The Green Team said the event offers residents a chance to enjoy the outdoors, connect with neighbors and take an active role in keeping Stafford Township clean for current and future generations.
The announcement says litter and debris can negatively affect parks, stormwater systems and local waterways. By removing waste from shared spaces, volunteers can help protect the environment while contributing to what the announcement describes as a cleaner, more welcoming community.
The cleanup will take place at Hidden Pines Park at Forecastle Basin. Parking will be available in the lot accessible from Breakers Drive, according to the announcement, which also lists the location at 39.73054531168626, -74.29303012788871. The event will be held rain or shine.
Cleanup supplies will be provided to volunteers. Participants are encouraged to bring weather-appropriate clothing, bug spray, sunscreen and drinking water.
Registration is not required, but advance registration is strongly encouraged, according to the announcement. The Green Team said advance signups help estimate how many volunteers will attend and make sure enough cleanup supplies are available. Residents who do not register in advance will still be welcome to participate.
People seeking more information can contact Rae Baldwin at 609-597-1000 ext. 8511 or rbaldwin@staffordnj.gov.
"We look forward to seeing our community come together for a morning of service and environmental stewardship," the announcement states. "Thank you for helping us keep Stafford Township beautiful!"
