The closure affects in-person service at the LBI branch for the week, but some library services will remain available. According to the library, patrons can request that held items be sent to alternate locations while the branch is closed. The library said those materials will not be moved automatically or in a bulk transfer.

Residents who need to return books or other library materials will still be able to use the branch's book drop during the shutdown. According to the library, the book drop will remain open and accessible throughout the closure.

The temporary shutdown will also affect phone service at the branch. During the closure, the LBI Branch's phone lines will be unavailable, according to the library. Anyone who needs help during that time can call the Ocean County Library's main number at 732-349-6200, where library staff will be available to answer questions.

The closure does not affect the library system's online offerings. The library reported that digital resources, including eBooks, audiobooks, research databases and virtual programming, will remain available 24/7 through theoceancountylibrary.org.
