Donahue Elementary students put on the first musical in the school's history last week after months of preparation.
Drama teacher Meghan Miller VanderPyl led 39 students – 36 actors and three stage crew members – in rehearsing "Annie Jr.," an abridged version of the popular musical, starting in November. They performed the show June 2.
Title roles went to fourth grader Jillian Bopp (Annie), fifth grader Sara Wells (Miss Hannigan), fifth grader Thomas Krey (Oliver Warbucks), fifth grader Kate Fahringer (Grace Farrell), fifth grader Julia Wadnik (Bert Healy), fourth grader Scott Doty (Rooster Hannigan), fifth grader Tommi Traister (Lily St. Regis) and fourth grader Dylan Cappuccio (FDR).
