Annual 'Pirates Day' Slated For Saturday in Barnegat

Event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

It’s time to bring out your inner swashbuckler at the annual Pirate’s Day in Barnegat on Sept. 6.

The pirate-themed free event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. along East Bay Avenue and Gazebo Park. The event is sponsored by the Barnegat Chamber of Commerce and the Barnegat Recreation Department.

Ye Pyrate Brotherhood and the Valhall Pirates - Professional pirate re-enactors - will be on hand in costume to mingle with visitors, who are invited to wear their own costumes.

Members of the David Engel Pirate’s School will be on the Pirates Cove stage at 1 p.m. for a vaudeville show and to teach visitors how to talk pirate. Magicians will also be on hand.

On the music front, the Sea Dogs bring “yo-ho-ho” merriment, among other live bands on two stages. The Sure Cats play from 10 a.m.-noon; local favorite Chris Fritz sings from noon-2 p.m., and the Stones Clones, a Rolling Stones tribute band, take the stage from 2-4 p.m. T

Pirates Day will also feature a number of live bands and performers during the day, including the Sea Dogs, The Sure Cats, Chris Fritze and the Stones Clones, a Rolling Stone tribute band.

The music continues at the public dock at 7 p.m. with a performance by Tommy Edwards as Sir Rod Stewart, along with other live bands.

The event also features a farmer’s market, trolley tours and food for sale by local organizations.
