Barnegat-Area COVID Updates: Eatery Closes, No Increase In Deaths

BARNEGAT, NJ — There's a lot of news to keep up with right now — locally, nationally and worldwide. Here's a recap of coronavirus updates in Barnegat and Manahawkin.

Cases

The Ocean County Health Department has reported 370 coronavirus cases in Stafford and 321 in Barnegat as of Tuesday afternoon — increases of 39 cases in Stafford and 34 in Barnegat since Patch's last update Aug. 17.

The virus has killed 29 people in Stafford and 11 individuals in Barnegat, according to the OCHD, indicating no increase to either death toll since Patch's last update.

Officials tallied 23 new cases in Ocean County on Monday, bringing the area to 11,703 cases and 973 deaths.

Ocean was one of seven New Jersey counties showing a backslide in its management of the coronavirus, according to the state Department of Health's weekly "COVID-19 Activity Level Report." MORE.

• The Tuckerton Beach Grille closed permanently. The owners announced Friday in a Facebook post that difficulties associated with the coronavirus pandemic made it difficult to continue operations.

• A stunt by a group of YouTube pranksters at the famed "Jersey Shore" house in Seaside Heights drew thousands of their fans and police as the group was kicked out of the house on Monday. MORE.
