This year's festival will include several new features. Guests will have a chance to see the district's new STEM bus, which district staff have been repurposing from an old school bus into a traveling lab. According to the district, the bus will travel to Barnegat schools with hands-on activities for students in kindergarten through grade eight, with the goal of engaging students and encouraging them to explore science, technology, engineering and math.

The festival also is set to begin with a district-wide chorus performance. An award ceremony for Barnegat High School visual arts students will recognize their accomplishments throughout the year.

Student performances from chorus, choir, drama, theater and band programs across the district are planned throughout the night. The lineup is designed to showcase work from students in multiple grade levels and programs across the school district.

Families attending the event also will find additional attractions outside the traditional concert and gallery format. Slime Empire, described by the district as a slime activity truck, will be part of the festival, and a variety of food trucks will be on site during the evening.

The One Barnegat Music and Arts Festival will be held at Barnegat High School, 180 Bengal Blvd., from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 4.
