Barnegat Man Fatally Shot In Elizabeth

Elizabeth police and the Union County Prosecutor's Office opened a homicide investigation.

ELIZABETH, NJ — Authorities opened a homicide investigation last week after a Barnegat man was shot and killed in Elizabeth. Jermaine Graves, 36, died Thursday at the hospital.

Elizabeth police found Lewis shortly after 11 p.m. Sept. 1 on the 600 block of Marshall Street. He had sustained a serious injury.

Authorities took Lewis to University Hospital in Newark. He was pronounced dead Thursday.

The Union County Homicide Task Force are leading an investigation that includes members of Elizabeth police, the Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit and the Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit.
