Barnegat Man Indicted In 2022 Fatal Shooting: Prosecutor
Lamare R. Walker, of Barnegat, and Keansburg's Kedrick Chatmon were indicted on first-degree murder charges in the 2022 shooting.
BARNEGAT, NJ — A Barnegat resident is one of two men indicted on murder charges for a 2022 Monmouth County shooting that killed 39-year-old Marques Mills, the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said Monday.
Lamare R. Walker, 45, of Barnegat, and Keansburg resident Kedrick Chatmon, 37, were both indicted on first-degree murder and first-degree conspiracy to commit murder in relation to the 2022 death of Mills, Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said.
Mills was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside a car parked in the driveway of his Neptune home on May 14 shortly before 11 p.m., Santiago said.

He was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he died from his injuries the next morning, Santiago said.
Chatmon and Walker were identified as the people responsible for the shooting and were taken into custody on Nov. 21, 2024, Santiago said.

Both sit in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending detention hearings scheduled for Dec. 3.
