Barnegat Man, College Dean Sexually Assaulted Child: Prosecutor

James Hadley, 66, paid a child under the age of 16 to perform sexual acts on more than one occasion, authorities said.

BARNEGAT, NJ — A Barnegat man is accused of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 16 at least three times in March, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

James Hadley, 66, is also the Dean of the School of Business and Social Sciences at Ocean County College, according to his LinkedIn profile. He also is an adjunct professor at Kean University.

Hadley traveled to Pleasantville on March 13 to meet with a child to engage in a sexual act, authorities said.

Upon arrival, he was arrested by Pleasantville police and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Victims Unit before he could meet with said child, officials said.

Hadley had met with the child at least twice before, where he paid the child to engage in sex acts, officials said.

He was charged with second-degree sexual assault of a victim under the age of 16, second-degree luring a minor to commit a sexual act, third-degree endangering the welfare of a child and fourth-degree criminal sexual contact.

The Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion for pre-trial detention which is tentatively scheduled for this upcoming week. The investigation remains open.
