Barnegat Police Chase Down 3 Kids Burglarizing Cars

The teens stole valuables including cash, iPads and phone chargers, authorities said.

BARNEGAT, NJ — Three teenagers were accused of burglarizing cars early Saturday morning in Barnegat, police said. Authorities caught the boys — two 17-year-olds and a 14-year-old — after two of them tried escaping on foot, according to police.

Barnegat police responded to a report of kids pulling on car door handles at 4:10 a.m. around Cannonball Drive. Police quickly found all three kids.

One 17-year-old and the 14-year-old fled on foot but were caught, police said. The other 17-year-old stayed where he was. Police recovered stolen items including cash, iPads, sunglasses and phone chargers, authorities said.

All three kids were charged with burglary, police said. The Barnegat Police Department thanked residents who report suspicious behavior.
