Barnegat Vietnam Vets Event Canceled Amid Coronavirus Concerns
Barnegat Township's Senior Health Fair has also been postponed indefinitely.

BARNEGAT, NJ — Barnegat's Vietnam Veteran's Day event has been canceled because of concerns about the novel coronavirus. The third-annual event was set to take place March 29.
The Barnegat Township Senior Health Fair was also postponed indefinitely. The Recreation Department may consider other cancelations.

No coronavirus cases have been identified in Ocean County. But the state has confirmed 29 cases in New Jersey as of Thursday afternoon. Governor Phil Murphy recommended canceling all public gatherings of more than 250 people.

Thanking Vietnam Veterans in Barnegat, which organizes the annual veterans event, announced the cancelation Thursday.
"We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience, especially since we were all eagerly looking forward to all the amazing and wonderful things we had planned for this event, but feel this was the responsible decision to make," they said.
Barnegat is the only town in the country with a Vietnam veterans monument fully funded by a single Vietnamese refugee.
