Cake That! Gears Up For Super Bowl

The staff at Cake That! in Manahawkin are no strangers to high-pressure situations.

Last March, Cake That! owner Jess Bartlett and her assistant beat out two other teams - Cloud 9 Cupcakes from Atlanta and Rockin' Cupcakes from Michigan - to make it to the last round of the competition on on Food Network's Cupcake Wars.

And now, they are gearing up for another high-pressure situation - a star-studded Super Bowl party.

Bartlett and her staff will be the featured "sweets" vendors at the food lounge area for the Celebrity Beach Bowl. The event is one of several parties held in the days leading up to the Super Bowl, which is being held, for the first time, right here in New Jersey on Feb. 2. 

"We are very excited to participate," Bartlett told Patch this week.

Bartlett started making cupcakes about four years ago, after leaving her job as a makeup artist in New York. She opened the Bay Avenue shop on Memorial Day weekend, 2011.
