Car Crashes Into Home, 2 Airlifted In Barnegat: Police

Neither of the car's occupants were wearing seatbelts when the vehicle accelerated and went into a Seacrest Pines home, police said.

BARNEGAT, NJ — Two men were hospitalized Tuesday morning when their car crashed into a house in Barnegat's Seacrest Pines adult community, police said.

The two men, ages 46 and 42 and employed by a local landscaping company, collided with the house at about 11 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

Their vehicle had "accelerated unexpectedly" through an intersection and impacted the home on Black Bear Drive, police said.

Neither of the men were wearing seatbelts at the time, police said. Both sustained head and facial lacerations from hitting the car's windshield, police said. However, they both remained conscious and alert following the crash.

Due to the nature of their injuries, both were airlifted to hospitals for further treatment - one was taken to Atlantic City Trauma Center and the other to Jersey Shore Trauma Center "as a precautionary measure," police said.

Structure damage to the house was minimal, and it remains suitable for occupancy, police said.

"The Barnegat Township Police Department responded promptly to the scene, coordinating efforts with local emergency services to ensure the safety and well-being of all involved parties," police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
