Celebrate 275 Years Of Stafford Township This Spring

STAFFORD, NJ — It's a special year for Stafford, and everyone is invited to celebrate.

This year, the township celebrates its 275th anniversary, which in turn will be honored at the 60th annual Founders Day.

Founders Day is on June 8 this year, and Stafford Recreation wants everyone "to wish our beloved town a very happy 275th birthday and you're all invited to party with us all day long."

"Come out with your friends, family and neighbors and see why for centuries our town has been such a special place for generations to call home," Stafford Recreation said. "Whether you've lived here all of your life or have just moved to town, we want all of you there to help us celebrate this decades-long tradition of celebrating the founding of Stafford Township in 1749."

Township officials said they want the parade, kicking off from the Stafford Avenue Firehouse at 10 a.m. and proceeding through the heart of historic downtown Manahawkin, to be "bigger and better than ever!"

After the parade, festivities begin at 4 p.m. at the Doc Cramer Sports Complex, including a welcome from Mayor Robert Henken, opening ceremonies, honoring of the Grand Marshals, Parade Awards, Miss Stafford, Little Miss Stafford and Town Crier Pageants, entertainment by Asbury Fever, food trucks, local businesses and non-profits, inflatables and mechanical rides.

The grand finale is Stafford's fireworks display at dusk.

The township is looking for local businesses to be part of the event and to sponsor it.

Plus, applications are being accepted for the 2024 Miss and Junior Miss Stafford Pageants.
