The Disappearance Of Tucker's Island
Presentation on the vanished island at the Long Beach Island branch of the Ocean County Library

It was a tourist attraction before Cape May was. It had homes, a school, a boarding house, a lighthouse and a U.S. Livesaving Service Station. Some called it Sea Haven, most called it Tucker’s Island. But over the decades, nature took its course and the ocean slowly gobbled up the little island at the end of Long Beach Island. The lighthouse was the last to go. It toppled into the surf in 1927.
The Friends of the Island Library are sponsoring a presentation on lost Tucker’s Island at 10 a.m. on Aug. 6 at the library branch at 217 South Central Avenue in Surf City.
Registration is required. Register online at www.theoceancountylibrary.org or ca.. 609-494-2480.
