Donation Jar For Homeless Veteran Stolen From Manahawkin IHOP: Police

A Forked River man is accused of stealing the tip jar in November, which was full of cash meant to support a homeless veteran, police say.

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — A Forked River man is accused of stealing a jar filled with donations for a homeless veteran from the IHOP in Manahawkin, Stafford police said.

The theft was reported on Nov. 24, police said. An unidentified man had stolen a tip jar that had cash intended for a homeless veteran. The amount of cash in the jar was under $200, according to police.

An investigation identified Joselito Montalvo, 51, as the suspect, police said.

He was issued a criminal complaint summons for theft under $200, with a court appearance scheduled in Stafford Township Municipal Court, police said.
