Donors Needed At Manahawkin Blood Drive
The novel coronavirus can't be transmitted through blood, but the virus has caused a national shortage because of blood-drive cancelations.
MANAHAWKIN, NJ — A blood drive will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. outside Southern Ocean Medical Center. The novel coronavirus cannot be transmitted through blood.
Those who are healthy, feeling well and eligible to give blood and platelets are urged to do so. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred. The blood mobile will set up outside the front entrance.
Blood shortages have become problematic nationwide because many have been canceled during the coronavirus outbreak, according to the American Red Cross. The blood shortage could impact patients who need surgery, victims of car accidents and other emergencies, and patients fighting cancer.
