Driver Charged After Fleeing Traffic Stop In Stafford: Police

An Eagleswood man drove away after a cop pulled him over and started approaching his truck, according to police.

STAFFORD, NJ — An Eagleswood man was charged after fleeing a patrolman during a traffic stop, Stafford police said.

Joseph Celauro, 51, was charged with eluding a law enforcement officer in connection with the Feb. 22 incident, according to a news release.

A police officer pulled over a 2016 black Toyota Tacoma around 11 p.m. on Route 9 South near McKinley Avenue, police said.

But as the officer approached the truck, Celauro took off, fleeing south, according to police.

Investigation identified Celauro as the driver, and he was charged on Feb. 26, police said. He was processed and released on a summons pending a future court appearance.
