St. Francis Community Center 40th Anniversary Luau

Mark your calendars for St. Francis Community Center 40th Anniversary Luau on July 14, 2012.  The Luau is being held on the Bay behind St. Francis Community Center located at 4700 Long Beach Blvd., Long Beach Township, NJ from 5:00 to 8:30 PM.  Tickets are currently on sale at the Center’s Front Desk.  Tickets are $50 if purchased prior to July 7.  If tickets are purchased July 8 or after the price of the ticket is $60.  In case of rain the Luau will be moved indoors.

The Aloha Hula Show Band will perform Tropical Island music while Hula Dancers entertain you with an exciting Hawaiian Dance Show filled with lots of audience participation.   Beach Haven Catering is supplying hors d’oeuvres, roast pig with a pineapple BBQ sauce, Cole Slaw, gourmet macaroni & cheese, and a tossed summer salad.  Spirits will be included. 

 There will also be a Raw Clam Bar supplied by Bay Shellfish Restoration Program and ReClam the Bay.   St. Francis Community Center has been a site for a clam nursery (upweller) that has nurtured baby seed clams for the past six years.

The 40th Anniversary Luau will be the first opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to win a $5,000 Travel Gift Certificate!  The chances are only $25 per ticket and there will only be 1000 tickets sold.  The tickets will be sold at the Luau and will be available to purchase at the Center’s Front Desk on July 15.  The $5,000 Travel Gift Certificate is redeemable at Home Town Travel, 145 N. Main Street, Manahawkin, NJ (609-597-5100).  The drawing of the $5,000 Travel Gift Certificate will be held on September 28, 2012 at 9PM and the winner will be announced at the 40th Anniversary Gala at the Sea Shell Club & Resort.  The winner does not need be present.

While enjoying the Luau, stroll down memory lane with a picture presentation called; Then and Now.  Glimpse how the Center has evolved from the opening in 1972 to today’s diverse programs and activities.  Explore St. Francis Center’s rich community history by browsing through scrap books capturing memories throughout the years.

All proceeds from the 40th Anniversary Luau are used for the many programs provided by St. Francis Community Center.
