Explosion Outside N.J. Home [Video]
Investigators were at the scene outside a N.J. home early Thursday where an explosion took place, authorities say.
An explosion took place outside a New Jersey home early Thursday, according to authorities.
The explosion took place in a garbage can in Barnegat around 1:30 a.m., waking neighbors up, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.
Officers arrived after 1:30 a.m. to find a cloud of smoke, with its origin in the plastic garbage can. The broken-apart container was found between 81 Village Drive and 82 Winward Drive.

"It had no lid so it blew straight up," said OCPO spokesman Al Della Fave.
Della Fave said he believes it was a "nuisance-type thing" and was likely not terrorism.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the Barnegat Police Department, nevertheless, were on the scene to investigate. The OCPO and the ATF were both on the scene later in the morning, analyzing the situation.
The trash can had been left on the curb for collection later in the morning. No one was injured, according to the OCPO.
