Faulty Battery Sparks Weekend Garage Fire In Stafford
Firefighters were able to contain the 3 a.m. blaze to the home's garage area, Stafford police said.
STAFFORD, NJ — A malfunctioning battery was the cause of a weekend garage fire at a Stafford home, police said.
Firefighters responded to the Division Street home at about 3 a.m. on March 16 for the report of a structure fire, police said.
The fire was able to be contained to the garage area, police said.

All occupants and pets were able to safely exit the home.
While the fire is still under investigation, it is believed it started in the garage as the result of a battery malfunction, police said.

It was not clear what sort of battery caused the fire.
Police thanked the assisting agencies, including Barnegat Fire Department., Waretown Fire Department, Forked River Fire Fast Team, Berkeley Township Hazmat and Stafford Township Fire Prevention.
