Five Things Happening This Week

Events to note for the week of Feb. 27

Here's a look at some events coming up this week:

  • The 's Teen Writers' Guild gathers at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the library. Young writers are invited to discuss writing styles and techniques, share projects that they are working on, participate in peer review and critique and help develop a newsletter to highlight the work of Stafford’s teen writers. 
  • The Barnegat Garden Club meets at the historic Cox House, 353 N. Main St., at 7 p.m. Thursday.
  •  hosts a free Family Fitness night from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. Participants can meet with local vendors in the health and fitness field and also participate in 30-minute fitness sessions. Sessions include Zumba, Cross Fit, self defense, Jiu Jitsu, agility training, circuit training, wrestling, gymnastics and military challenges. Health professionals will be on hand to perform free health and fitness screenings, and there will be special performances by the BHS cheer and dance teams.
  • Bestselling cookbook author Kim McCosker comes to the at 2 p.m. Saturday to discuss, demo and share samples of recipes from her newest book, 4 Ingredients Gluten Free. All the book's recipes detail tasty, simple dishes that fit a gluten-free diet. Call 609-698-3331 register.
  • Parents can head to New Jersey Kayak, 409 East Bay Ave., at noon Saturday to peruse dozens summer camp options for their kids. The New Jersey Camp Fair series offers parents a close look at a number of camps and helps them select the right one for their children ages 3 to 17.
