Forum Set To Address Rising Car Thefts In Stafford
An open forum is planned for Feb. 9 to discuss car thefts in town and how police can further deter the crimes.
STAFFORD, NJ — Stafford Township officials have set an open forum to discuss rising car thefts in the community.
"Over the past week, the Township has received input from the public regarding suspicious activity, specifically on the potential for car thefts in the Township," officials said in a Facebook post.
The forum, held Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. in the Township Council room of Town Hall (260 E. Bay Ave., Manahawkin) will be hosted by Mayor Greg Myhre and Police Chief Thomas Dellane.

It will include "a review of what is in place to deter car thefts in our community will be discussed and then we will take input from the public on what the community is observing in their area of the Township," officials said.
"The Stafford Township Police Department monitors and takes action when this type of activity does take place in the Township, but knowing that car thefts are rising in the State, we want to be proactive and work with the public to continue to deter car thefts in our community," officials said.

All are invited to the public forum. However, if you are unable to attend, it will be recorded and posted on Facebook, the Township website and aired on Channel 22.
