BARNEGAT, NJ — Angeletta Sheppard, known as "Lea" to loved ones, lived out her days with "love and light," her family says. Now, a fundraiser has been launched to help lay her to rest, after she was killed in a hit-and-run earlier this month.

Sheppard's sister-in-law, Alyson Hastings, created the GoFundMe "Please Help Us Give Lea a Beautiful Farewell" to help alleviate some of the burden on her family as they navigate through the details of her final services, Hastings wrote.

"Lea deserves the proper services and I would like to make sure she receives them," Hastings wrote. "Things were never simple with Lea. Those who had the pleasure of having her in their life know we need to send her off the same way she lived out her days, with love and light!"
