GALLERY: Barnegat Historical Society Sponsors A Quilt Show

Quilts will be donated to New Jersey servicemen and women, and their families

Quilters from all over the state got to exhibit their creations as part of the annual quilt show sponsored by the Barnegat Historical Society. The quilts, displayed at the Barnegat Recreation Center last weekend, will be donated to “Quilts of Valor,” which in turn will give the quilts away to New Jersey servicemen and women.

According to organizer Jamie Stofko, a Barnegat resident and historical society member, the quilt exhibit started about fifteen years ago and became the historical society’s most important fundraising event of the year, one that goes hand in hand with the society’s mission to preserve local history.

"Quilting is one of those traditional arts that we would like to see preserved and continued,” Stofko said.
