'Get Me:' SWAT Stops Naked, 'Out-Of-Control' Ocean County Man: PD

An Ocean County SWAT team subdued an "out-of contol" man yelling, "Come on, come get me!" while carrying a knife, police said late Wednesday.

Kurt R. Tyhanic, taken into custody by SWAT officers, was recently treated at the Southern Ocean Medical Center and transported to the Ocean County jail where he was processed and served with a warrant and summons, Little Egg Harbor police reported on Wednesday.

The incident happened on Friday, Dec. 21 at 2:39 p.m. when Little Egg Harbor police were dispatched to a residence in the Cranberry Creek development. They went to the development after getting a report about an "out-of-control" man, police said.

The caller said her 50-year-old son destroyed her residence, refused to take his medication, continued to drink alcohol, held a knife and threatened suicide-by-cop, police said.

Officers arrived sooner after and found the man naked at the front door, holding two knives and yelling, "Come on, come get me!" The caller was escorted to safety and a perimeter was established around the house, police said.

The Ocean County Regional SWAT team and crisis negotiators were contacted and responded to the scene, along with the Ocean County Prosecutors Office and Ocean County Sheriff’s Department.

Tyhanic was charged with possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, criminal mischief, aggravated assault on police, obstruction, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Ocean County jail records showed Thursday that he remained there on no bail.
