Get Rid Of Unneeded Medicine This Weekend In Barnegat

The Barnegat Police Department is participating in the DEA National Takeback initiative this Saturday.

BARNEGAT, NJ — Need to get rid of unwanted, unneeded or expired medication? The Barnegat Township Police Department is participating in the DEA National Takeback initiative this weekend.

On Oct. 29, bring your medication to Barnegat Township Municipal Court (900 W Bay Ave.) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Participants can dispose of their medication in its original container or place it directly in the disposal box.

Liquid medications, intravenous solutions, injectables and syringes are not accepted.

If you cannot make it Saturday but wish to dispose of medication, Barnegat police have medicine drop boxes available 24 hours a day, seven days a week in their lobby.

In those boxes, medications must be removed from their packaging (cardboard boxes, etc.) and disposed of individually (not in filled plastic bags) into the drop box.
