STAFFORD, NJ — July 29 was the deadline for candidates to file to run for their local board of education in New Jersey.

Three seats are open for the Stafford Township Board of Education for three-year terms, and three seats are open for the Southern Regional Board of Education.

Here's who's running for office, according to the Ocean County Clerk's Office. Asterisk indicates incumbent.

On Nov. 5, Stafford residents will also head to the polls to elect a new mayor and six Township Council seats. Current Mayor and Republican Robert Henken seeks a full term; he's challenged by Independent Jessica DiMaria. No one is running as a Democrat.

Seeking the Township Council seats as Republicans are Amy Otte, Lisa Mower, Owen LaRocca, Christopher DarConte, Sergio Fossa and Steven Esposito, all on the same slate. On the Democratic slate are Lisa Bennett, Mark Marcello, Ellyn Hill and Wendy McConnell. Two Democrat slots are vacant.
