Hockey Fundraiser To Support Retired LBI Cop Struck By Vehicle
A retired Ship Bottom officer was injured while helping at the scene of an accident. The State Police hockey team will help his family.
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — A driver struck Scott Barr while he was helping at the scene of an accident. Now the State Police hockey team will aid the retired Ship Bottom officer and his family.
The New Jersey Police Benevolent Association Hockey Team will face the Atlantic City Guns n' Hoses. The match takes place at 2 p.m. March 4 at the Flyers Skate Zone (501 North Albany Ave., Atlantic City).
All proceeds will support Barr and his family. Tickets cost $10 each and will be sold at the arena on game day.

Barr stopped to help someone at the scene of a crash Oct. 12 on the Garden. State Parkway. While he tried to help, an oncoming vehicle struck him. The retired police officer has since undergone many procedures and surgeries.
His family has posted updates about Barr's recovery on a GoFundMe page. Barr was fitted for and received his first prosthetic leg, his family posted Feb. 16. He was able to stand, balance and take a few steps.
