Hydrant Flushing Underway In Parts Of Barnegat

If you notice your water is running brown, here's why.

BARNEGAT, NJ — Hydrant flushing is underway in the Timbers section of Barnegat this week, officials announced.

Flushing will be conducted from May 8 to 10.

During this time, township officials say you may notice discoloration and a loss of water pressure.

"Do not be alarmed," township officials said. Running your tap for five to 10 minutes should allow the water to clear up.

"We apologize for any inconvenience this very important task may cause our customers," officials said.
