Jason Groome Holding Out For More Money From Red Sox : Report

Signing deadline is Friday.

With the deadline for Major League Baseball to sign their draft pick choices looming, Barnegat High School's Jason Groome and the Boston Red Sox have yet to ink a deal, according to app.com.

Neither Groome or his agent, Jeff Randazzo have said anything publicly since the June 9, the night of the Major League Draft. Neither have the Red Sox.

Groome started out earlier in the season as the number one pick in the draft. But according to reports, Randazzo told teams before the draft that Groome would not sign for less that a $4 million signing bonus. His stock fell shortly after that.

Groome is one of only three first-round picks unsigned, along with Braxton Garrett, who went to the Marlins with the seventh pick overall, and Anthony Kay, selected No. 31 by the Mets.

The Red Sox organization is also facing pressure to get the deal signed rather than lose a pick and receive a compensatory pick next year.
