JCP&L To Conduct Routine Aerial Power Line Inspections Through Oct. 4

Don't be alarmed if you see a black helicopter hovering over Barnegat during the next few weeks.

Jersey Central Power & and Light has contracted with the Haverfield Company to conduct aerial inspections of JCP&L's transmission lines through Oct. 4, weather permitting, according to the Township Clerk's office.

The helicopter will fly slowly - between 20 to 30 miles an hour - along the power lines and may hover at times for a closer inspection. The helicopter scheduled for these patrols is a black, Hughes MD500, with registration number N8371F on the tail of it.
