Kids Can Learn To Draw Cartoons In Barnegat
The free July 28 program at the Barnegat Branch includes drawing exercises and a book signing for ages 8 to 12.
BARNEGAT, NJ — Author Mike Dawson will lead “Cartooning Lessons – Telling Your Stories Using the Language of Comics” at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, at the Barnegat Branch of the Ocean County Library.
The library said the program is for children ages 8 to 12. The free event will include hands-on drawing exercises, followed by a book signing. Attendees can bring their own copy to be signed, or buy books at the event.
According to the program announcement, Dawson will lead a cartooning workshop designed to engage participants’ eyes, hands and minds. The event is being held at the Barnegat Branch, 112 Burr St., and registration is required.

Dawson is an award-winning cartoonist whose middle-grade novels include "The Fifth Quarter," "The Fifth Quarter: Hard Court," and "The Hidden Dominion of Geordie James," according to the announcement.
The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Barnegat Library. According to the library, the Friends are volunteers who help preserve, strengthen and support the library by supporting branch activities, sponsoring fundraisers, and attending community and civic events as advocates for the library.
