BARNEGAT, NJ — There's a lot of news to keep up with right now — locally, nationally and worldwide. Here's a recap of coronavirus updates in Barnegat and Manahawkin.

Cases

The Ocean County Health Department has reported 15 positive cases in Barnegat and seven in Stafford as of Saturday morning. The OCHD will provide daily updates here.

People with the coronavirus also might not show symptoms, according to the Center for Disease Control. With limited testing available nationwide, it is also difficult to gauge the true number of people with the virus.

Restrictions and Updates

Ocean County will begin drive-through testing for the new coronavirus at Ocean County College on Monday, county officials said Thursday.

There will be tight restrictions in place, however: You must be an Ocean County resident, you must register, and you must have a prescription from a health care provider. MORE.

Some grocery stores around Barnegat are offering special shopping hours for senior citizens during the novel-coronavirus outbreak. MORE.

Long Beach Township is temporarily prohibiting short-term rentals. The restriction was part of a "declaration of disaster and emergency" that Township officials signed Thursday.
