LBI Chowderfest Cook-Off, Booth And Costume Winners Announced

The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce has released the names of the winners in the annual Chowder Cook-Off Classic held today in Beach Haven.

Sixteen area restaurants vied for top honors in New England and Manhattan clam chowder, better known as white and red here on Long Beach Island.

The participating white chowder restaurants included Country Kettle Chowda, The Chicken or the Egg, TGI Friday’s in Manahawkin, The Stockton Seaview, Howard’s, Phillips, Resorts, Arcadia Rehab and Nursing. Red chowder contestants included Lefty’s, Shore Fire Grille, Sea Oaks Country Club, The Black Whale, Stefano’s, The Maine Course, Southern Smoke and Cuisine on the Green.

New England Chowder

Critics’ Choice White: Resorts Atlantic City

Grand Prize White: Howard’s Restaurant

1st Runner Up White: Chicken or the Egg

2nd Runner Up White: Country Kettle Chowda

3rd Runner Up White: Arcadia Nursing & Rehab Center

Manhattan Chowder

Critics’ Choice Red: Lefty’s Tavern

Grand Prize Red: Stefano’s Restaurant

1st Runner Up Red: Black Whale Bar & Fish House

2nd Runner Up Red: The Maine Course

3rd Runner Up Red: Lefty’s Tavern

Rookie of the Year: Cuisine on the Green at Atlantis
